Maximus Grappling Championships
The Cellar BJJ team is at it again! We had a great showing at Maximus Grappling Championships on June 13th, with a team in the Quintet and 2 solo matches.
In the quintet, Kendall started off by securing a sub against a strong opponent before getting caught in a sub by the next guy in the cage. Liam submitted that competitor and ran out the clock on the next opponent. CJ put on an exciting display of wrestling and slammed his opponent decisively before getting caught in a guillotine. Tim Leung unfortunately suffered a dislocated soldier immediately at the start of his match and couldn’t continue. Tim Loutchko was able to run the clock on his opponent and eliminated them both.
In the single matches, Solomon went against a tough purple belt and secured a knee bar that locked in QUICK. Sam did well cage wrestling against a competitive blue belt but ultimately got caught in an ankle lock. Much to work on!
This team showed out and showed up for each other. It’s amazing to see how much bonding happens during these events. We never leave the same. Special thanks to coach Ben Locken for driving all the way to Chicago to corner his athletes! (He also drove BACK to MN the same day!)
Onto the next! 🥋
