Cellar Muay Thai Instructors Receive Rank Promotions at Pacific Northwest Camp

Each summer, the World Thai Boxing Association (WTBA) holds a four-day intensive Pacific Northwest Muay Thai camp for instructors and advanced students. The Pacific Northwest Muay Thai camp is led by Grand Master Ajarn Chai Sirisute, founder of the WTBA. This year marked the event’s 30th anniversary, as well as the first year back in attendance following the loosening of COVID travel restrictions. The Cellar Gym had four representatives attending this year: Katie Locken, Talitha Lundgren, Lucas Lundgren, and head striking coach Chris Cichon.

After four brutal days of Muay Thai training in 100-degree weather, all four of our coaches received well-deserved promotions by Ajarn Chai! Katie and Talitha tested for their Associate Instructor certifications, completing intense kick test rounds as well as the traditional Wai Kru and technique demonstrations. Coach Lucas was promoted to Full Instructor, and Coach Chris was promoted to Senior Instructor.

It was an honor for our coaches and advanced students to have the opportunity to attend this event and test in front of Ajarn Chai, and The Cellar Gym is extremely proud of this distinction. Congratulations Katie, Talitha, Lucas, and Chris!
