K-1 Kickboxing was back in action at the Hyatt Hotel Saturday as two fighters from The Cellar were featured on the card. Devlin Borders fought to a draw against Canada’s Josh Blades and Krista Olson won a unanimous decision against the very experienced Whitney Tobin. Thanks to everyone who came out to support The Cellar Fight Team!

The Cellar’s Devlin Borders was rematching against Josh Blades from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. The two fought 18 months ago with Devlin taking the split decision victory. Devlin started off strong, but was dropped midway through the fight by a big right hand. He finished the round strong but was down 10-8 on the judges score cards at the break. Many fighters have difficulty coming back mentally after being knocked down, but Devlin stepped things up. He came back strong in the 2nd and 3rd rounds to win both rounds on all three judges scorecards and score a draw.

The Cellar’s Krista Olson had battled the flu for the past few weeks and had trouble keeping weight on. The morning of the fight she actually woke up weighing less than the minimum weight requirement. Luckily she was able to get some food in her system and felt strong enough to compete. Her opponent, Whitney Tobin, is a very talented Muay Thai fighter with international fight experience. Their match was called the “Fight of the Night” by many in attendance with both women going back-n-forth landing significant shots. Krista landed some vicious straight lefts that snapped her opponent’s head back and was quick to score knees from the clinch. In the end, all three judges scored the bout the same, 29-28 and Krista picked up the unanimous decision win.
