Winter 2024 Youth Programs Recap
At The Cellar Gym, we’re incredibly fortunate to have a thriving community of youth martial artists, from our preschool program all the way up to our teen leaders! Here’s a quick recap of a few things that our youth have been up to since the start of the year.
Teen Night
In February, we started a teen group that meets twice per month. This small group setting was implemented with the intention of community building amongst our teen athletes. We start each session with an icebreaker game to learn something new about each other, and our teens have created their own groups for team games. All teens are welcomed to these nights as we continue to host them. Join us for Teen Nights on the first and third Tuesday of the month from 6:30-8:00 PM in the Cellar lounge.
Winter Teen Outing
On February 10th, teens from our Youth Martial Arts program met at the Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove, MN for snow tubing. Even though the weather was warm and the green grass was showing through, our students embraced the cold wind to slide into some fun in the “snow”! We plan to host teen outings every new season of the year. We’re organizing a laser tag outing for our Spring event; stay tuned for an announcement!
Parents’ Night Out
Every last Friday of the month, the Cellar Gym hosts Parents’ Night Out. All students ages 5-12 are invited for a themed night of games and activities along with a pizza party. In January, we hosted an “Abominable Snowman Showdown”, where youth participated in winter themed games including a snow ball fight and penguin races. February’s theme was something Super! Our youth dressed as their favorite hero and battled through hero-themed games and an obstacle course. Join us the last Friday of every month for a themed night of fun and pizza.
