The Cellar Gym’s head BJJ instructor and Pro MMA Fighter, Marcelo Nunes, was back in action Friday night in Davenport, Iowa competing for XFS – Xplode Fight Series. With a 2-0 professional MMA record, Marcelo traveled into “enemy” territory to challenge the 2-0 John Soliz from Davenport.

Soliz had a large cheering section in attendance, but as soon as the action hit the ground and Marcelo’s jiu jitsu skills were on display, the entire crowd became silent, in awe of his jiu jitsu technique. Marcelo secured the fight ending armbar just :55 seconds into the very first round.

Marcelo improves his professional MMA record to 3-0 with all 3 wins coming by first round stoppage (2 submissions and 1 TKO). Marcelo was also undefeated as an amateur: 1-0 MMA (1 Knockout), and 5-0 Muay Thai (4 Knockouts).

There is no date set as of yet for Marcelo’s next bout, but he hopes to step back into the cage soon and continue his momentum.
