The Cellar’s Marcelo Nunes won his pro debut Saturday night at Caged Chaos IV at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, MN. In his first professional MMA bout and second MMA fight over all (1-0 as an amateur), Marcelo Nunes took on a tough professional veteran in Nate Hoffman (5-5).

Shortly after the fight started Marcelo locked up with Hoffman and pushed him to the cage. While pinning his opponent to the fence, Marcelo bumped off for a quick second to land a huge elbow that echoed across the event center before shooting for a double and taking the fight to the ground. Marcelo passed Hoffman’s guard and transitioned to mount where he began to land strikes. Later Hoffman gave up his back and Marcelo landed more great elbows. Marcelo then transitioned to an armbar and Hoffman was forced to tap at 3:06 of the first round.

It was a great start to his professional MMA career. Thank you to everyone from The Cellar who came out to support him. We had a great crew of students, friends, and training partners in attendance cheering him on. Marcelo greatly appreciates the support. Hopefully he will be back in the cage again very soon.
