Pam and Nate Get Big Wins at Legacy MMA – 43
Legacy Fighting Championships and AXS Television made their Minnesota debut Friday night at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN. The Cellar’s Pam Sorenson was part of the amateur undercard and Nate Richardson was the first professional fight on the televised card. The main card was televised nationally on AXS TV.
During the undercard Pam Sorenson took on Jeannette Pomales from Boston, MA. Pam was fresh off of her 2015 Muay Thai Classic Championship, but it was her first MMA fight since having corrective eye surgery and she wasted no time going to work. After one striking exchange, Pam pressed the action to the cage, hip tossed Jeannette, and immediately starting working from side control. Later she advanced to the mount and when Jeannette rolled, she took her back and sunk in the rear naked choke. Pam won by submission at 1:52 of the very first round.
Nate Richardson challenged a very tough WEC veteran in Courtney Buck. The two had fought before under kickboxing rules, but this was their first time meeting in the MMA cage. The first round was good for Nate, but he jumped in for an attack just as Courtney threw a jab and ended up being dropped by the punch. He weathered the storm and finished the round very well, but probably lost the round on the scorecards. The next two rounds were all Nate. He used his superior head movement, speed, and combinations to batter Courtney with body punches, leg kicks, and upstairs combos. Nate clearly won the second round and as Courtney began to tire, he was on his way to winning the third until Nate landed a beautiful straight right that sent Courtney to the mat. Nate won by KO at 3:43 of the thrid round.
