Pam ‘Bam’ Sorenson Wins Invicta World Title!!!
She did it! Your NEW Invicta FC Featherweight World Champion is Pam ‘Bam’ Sorenson!!!
On August 9 in Kansas City, Kansas, Pam Sorenson faced Kaitlin Young in a 5-round battle for the vacant Invicta FC Featherweight Title. It was a back-and-forth battle as both fighters had their moments. Kaitlin landed some big punches and low kicks early in the fight, but Pam ‘Bam’ was continually able to take Kaitlin to the mat and find dominate positions on the ground. She took Kaitlin’s back several times in the bout and threatened with the RNC and locked up one near-finishing arm bar from guard, but Kaitlin was resilient and kept bringing the fight back to the feet.
In the late rounds however, Pam’s endless cardio and constant pressure began to add up. Pam began to get the better of the striking exchanges and even forced the veteran striker to attempt a takedown of her own.
At the end of the 5-round war, the judges gave the contest unanimously to Pam ‘Bam’ and she was crowned the 4th ever champion of the 145 lb, Featherweight division.
This was a huge win for Pam ‘Bam’ as she has been a fan of Kaitlin Young since she started her amateur career. Pam had a previous loss to Kaitlin in a short-notice kickboxing match years ago and she accepted this fight only a few months after undergoing a very invasive surgery to remove an ovarian cyst. Pam had an incredible battle just to make it to the cage on fight night and to walk out of that cage a World Champion, is nothing short of heroic.
Congratulations Pam ‘Bam,’ your team at The Cellar Gym is so proud of you!!!
