Cellar MMA fighter Derek Smith stepped into the cage for the first time in over seven years last Saturday, January 15 in the main event of A-Town Throwdown XVII in Austin, MN. Derek faced UFC vet Zak Ottow and brought a good fight, showing all the hard work he put in during his preparation leading up to the event.

Derek pressed the action early in the first round and looked great in both striking and grappling exchanges, before getting caught in a guillotine choke that ended the fight. We are very proud of Derek and all the hard work he put into this fight. We hope to see him fight again very soon!
